When Escape was created, the United States was already losing the War on Drugs. Public opinion shifted over the decades into apathy and acceptance. A hallucinogen that allowed the user to escape to another life was not just appealing, it was the perfect substitute for the society the last generation had left them.
Taken safely, Escape was all a person could ever want. But everything changed once a young boy died with a small tab of paper on his tongue. Ouroboros engages with a society that has given up on its present and failed its future. Its citizens are trapped in a world where meaningful change seems impossible.
Ouroboros is visually striking as the reader experiences Escape's hallucinogenic effects, and the story itself maintains the emotional grip that I have come to expect from his novels. - Brad Sewell
Refreshingly original, and frighteningly close to what could really happen with the ever increasing creation of designer drugs. - Placeholder
I was absolutely enthralled by this very original story, and wondered often what I would do if I lived in this book. The characters are just so human, you will ride the feels train, and let me tell you, there are a ton of hills and valleys. Rests stops available only if you're forced to go to work. - Don
From the opening trip down the rabbit hole of Escape to the final emotional devastating black hole of irony that is the ending, Ouroboros is a win on every single level. - trashcanman
